PASTURE-GAINER helps to stretch your forage
whether it’s hay, silage, pasture or a combination of all of these. In most
cases we see more cud chewing, significantly higher gains and better overall
condition and advantage in stocking rate. We use no acids in our feeds; many
times when liquid feeds are made, acids are added to cattle feeds. This includes sulfuric acid – yes, battery
acid – in some liquid feed mixes. We chose not to have any acid on our property
or in our feed. After all, we are the end user of these products – we are beef
eaters ourselves!
The only additive on our feeds is
AQUA-ZYME PLUS, Vitamins, enzymes, Diatomaceous Earth and Garlic as a
fly-repellent for your Cattle. You can feed Pro-Energy Feeds up to the day of
slaughter for your beef, there is no withdrawal time needed. The use of AQUA-ZYME PLUS has been a great
addition to our liquid feeds. We’ve
learned through years of experience that the ingredients used in our feeds
provide an excellent substrate for the growth of these good bacteria and
enhance the digestive efficiency as well as build strong natural immune
systems. When this is accomplished, the animal is capable of warding off
disease problems on their own, as well as being more efficient in digesting
feedstuffs.
PASTURE-GAINER is the mainstay at Pro Energy
Feeds. This feed is either 20% protein
and 5% fat or 24% protein and 5% fat.
Some producers feed the 20% protein in the Summer and then switch to the
24% in the fall and winter. This protein
has proven in lab testing to be almost 100% digestible. Many cow-calf
operations feed it year round. Dealer
research has shown that is only costs about $50 to $70 more to feed a cow-calf
pair for a calendar year than to feed only in winter. The cows never get behind
on nutrition so in a normal year they never consume excessively. The calves consume some feed and take some
pressure off the cows as though you were creep feeding. Producers report weaning weight advantages of
as much as 80 pounds per calf and breedback is also given a boost.
DAIRY BLEND was devolved for dairymen who
wanted higher consumption than they could attain on Pasture Gainer. Many beef producers use Dairy Blend on wheat
pasture or on calves on grass. We feed
it to our cows in the spring to enhance consumption when the grass is lush and
possibly “washy”.
INITATOR is very palatable to bovines. Palatability is the key on stressed
calves. This product is designed to get
light stressed calve on feed and help to minimize the stress of being weaned,
shipped, etc. Many producers put some
Initiator on the hay in the receiving pen and put AQUA-ZYME PLUS in the water
for a few days. This has proven to be
very helpful in getting the calves off to a good start.

Our History
Early in 1990 we became aware of diatomaceous earth and upon
trying it out were amazed at what it can do. We saw it kill all kinds of
unwanted bugs and even deworm our horses and cattle, as well as help with fly population
control. The greatest thing is that the
stuff is labeled as Organic! It kills
all kinds of unwanted critters but has no harmful effects on our friends like
earthworms or dung beetles. We are proud
to be putting diatomaceous earth in our feed upon request for some time now and
are very pleased with the results. We
were told in the past that we could not advertise that it will deworm because
there was no research to back up the claim; but recently some universities have
given it credit as a dewormer and most true organic farms relay on it.
In the Spring of 2002 we built our own feed plant right here at
home. We had become aware of the need to
have total control over the ingredients and mixing processes to ensure that our
customers have the best possible feed that can be made. We are now more than
ever excited about the quality of our line of liquid feeds.
There are five basic reasons for the noticeable improvements in
cattle performance using Pro Energy Feeds.
1. Both the protein and the
energy come from sources that are compatible with rumen digestive bacteria with
harmony and synergy when the protein and energy enter the rumen.
2. The Protein used is
adequate for the cow’s needs. A 1,000
pound cow needs about 2 pounds of crude protein per day for proper growth and
gain. That requires the cow to consume 2.5% of her weight in 8% protein grass
or had; but doing only that will provide the protein needed, but not
necessarily the energy needed. Pro-Energy Feeds provides both the Protein and
the Energy requirements.
3. The Energy is abundant
in the feed. This energy comes from
vegetable fat (corn oil and soybean oil) which contain 2.25 times the energy of
#2 corn and are in total harmony with a forage diet. There is also significant
energy derived from the Molasses in the feed.
4. The Pro-Energy feeds are
fed free choice, allowing every animal to get their share and not be stressed
or hurried.
5. The AQUA-ZYME PLUS
enzyme enhancements make the difference.
In order to be beneficial to cattle, a probiotic needs to be viable for
an extended period of time through growth of new bacteria. Our 25 years of experience has taught us the
beneficial bacteria in AQUA-ZYME PLUS is viable in our feeds, whenever the feed
is consumed. Testimonials we hear from
producers combined with what we have experience here at our own ranch tell us
there is synergism in putting this probiotic together with our liquid feed mix.
